Product Description

Coal Me Maybe is a gunmetal shimmer gel nail polish from the Gelish Color Plus collection. This professional soak-off gel polish delivers a deep charcoal-black finish with refined metallic shimmer for dimensional, sophisticated manicures. Ideal for dark neutral nails, fall and winter manicures, concerts, work-to-evening style, alternative fashion, city travel, minimalist nail art, and vintage-inspired looks, Coal Me Maybe delivers long-lasting glossy wear after LED curing.

Color Description

A gunmetal shimmer gel polish with a deep charcoal-black base and restrained metallic reflection inspired by vintage cassette players, brushed audio hardware, tape hiss, and late-afternoon solitude. Dark, tactile, and understated, this shade works beautifully for alternative style, concerts, fall and winter nails, city travel, work-to-evening manicures, minimalist metallic designs, and analog-inspired beauty looks.

Best For

Dark neutral manicures, fall and winter nails, concerts, work-to-evening looks, alternative fashion, city travel, minimalist nail art, metallic accents, vintage-inspired styling, and professional salon services.

Looks Great On

Wear Coal Me Maybe when the mood is personal rather than performative: an indie concert, record-store afternoon, long drive, rainy city day, late coffee, bookstore stop, film screening, rooftop sunset, or a weekend built around music instead of an itinerary. It fits naturally with analog-minded travel in Tokyo, London, Berlin, Seattle, Melbourne, or Montreal — places where record shops, listening bars, vintage stores, small venues, and old audio equipment can still become part of the day. Record Store Day weekends, record fairs, cassette swaps, and intimate live shows all suit the shade without turning it into costume nostalgia. Pair it with charcoal knits, faded denim, worn black leather, utility jackets, vintage band tees, washed gray, navy, dark olive, boots, loafers, old-school sneakers, silver hardware, compact crossbody bags, and headphones that look used rather than decorative. For beauty, think natural skin texture, softly smudged liner, brushed brows, muted berry or brown lips, and hair that feels lived-in rather than overstyled. On nails, try gunmetal French tips, matte-and-gloss contrast, fine silver edging, charcoal aura gradients, cassette-line graphics, negative-space bars, or pair it with black, silver, deep plum, denim blue, oxblood, smoky taupe, and sheer shimmer Color Plus shades for an analog-inspired palette.

How To Use

After prep, apply a thin even layer of Gelish Foundation or Quick Release Base Gel and cure. Apply Gelish Color Plus Gel Polish shade of choice, cap free edge, and cure. Repeat. Apply a thin layer of Gelish No Cleanse Top Coat and cure. Finish with Gelish Nourish Cuticle Oil.

To remove, lightly file surface. Saturate a remover wrap with Gelish Artificial Nail Remover. Wrap nail, soak 10-15 minutes. Gently remove remaining gel with orangewood stick.

Curing Tips for Gelish Color Plus

1. Rich color needs a full cure. Color Plus is highly pigmented, so it needs a complete cure. If you aren't using our Gelish 18G LED Light, we recommend a 60-second cure for each layer of Color Plus.

2. Apply in thin layers. Thin coats cure evenly and give you the smoothest finish. If you see any wrinkling, that layer isn't fully cured. Put it back under the lamp for another 60 seconds.
